So. Guess what I’ve been doing, inbeteween checking out awesome lego builds, cleaning up cat-sick, scraping Welsh mud off the outside (and INSIDE- YAY) of the car and engaging in super-polite passive-aggressive childcare diary-organisation with my better half? Go on. You’ll NEVER guess.

Oh. You got it. ERCOL COVERS. Check out lovely Harriet’s (and by lovely, I mean, SHE PAID ME MONEY. MONEY I CAN SPEND ON LEGO/ MUDDY CAR VALETS/ CAT LITTER) house up for sale in that London. I have no idea where all the detritus of modern living (lego, cat litter trays, car shampoo) has gone in this house. I can only assume she has moved everything into a bunker under the garden. Anyway, you will notice that this paragon of modern free-flowing living features TWO, count ’em, TWO Ercols what I fancied up. They look tiny in these pictures, but they were taken with an Estate Agent Camera (thus bending time and space). Honestly, my Ercol stuff is big enough for humans. It also looks pretty good in houses stuffed with stuff.

Do YOU have an Ercol that needs some TICKETY-BOODLING?

SPRINGSWATCH SALE

Dear Tickety-Boodlers, our move to new, more, umm, bijou, premises, has focussed the mind vis a vis our stock levels. That is to say, I have to sell some of this stuff in order to make room for Henry the Hoover. We have a bedroom chair in pinkety-pink, and a a blanket box in matching. Both very fun, both taking up too much room. There’s the low birdhouse nursery/nursing chair which needs a home. If you think you can give these lovelies a home, please get in touch. We will have to interview you to make sure you are up to scratch, but short of being a pyromaniac, I think it’s probably a done deal.  If there’s ‘owt else in the webshop which tickles your whiffle, I am in a financially-vulnerable, not to say space-vulnerable, position at the moment- so you can make me an offer and I might well BITE YOUR HAND OFF.

On behalf of Henry, and his soppy eyes and moderately rude nose, thank you for reading.

A Farewell To Arm(chair)s.

It is with heavy hearts that we will be bidding a farewell to our workshop at the end of this week. Yes, we paid our rent. Yes, it was lovely and light. Yes, we got a fair-ish amount of work done here. Umm, yes, it WAS up two flights of stairs. But it’s been earmarked for demolition. Honestly, it wasn’t something we said. If you’re a fan of the Nelson Street  street art you better get down here toot sweet ‘cos we’ll be losing the giant fox I’ve been daydreaming over for the past year. You can also kiss goodbye to the magnificent Marvel Mural Competition. I’ve just snapped two pieces in situ. They are up in the shop now. Please start a flurry of purchases so I don’t have to move ALL THIS STUFF to the new studio over the road at Bridewell Island. Honestly. I don’t know where I’m going to stick it all (no suggestions, thank you).

Somewhere-Over-The-Rainbow Celebration Ercol Chair

WP_20140402_5951 (1)

Finished this cracker today. It’s mostly in grey marl wool felt, but flipped with a Rainbow Geometry in cotton-linen. Top-stitching, zipping, you know, the usual. Only a moderate amount of swearing went into this effort. And no blood. Make me an offer. It’ll be in the shop as soon as the sun comes out and I can snap it properly (sometime in September, then).

Spring Has Sprung

Ahh. So it’s been exactly a year since Tickety-Boo left the comfort of the back room and into the workshop at Bridewell Space. I love the view from my window almost as much as I don’t love the fact that we are on the second floor, without lifts.

The team celebrated with (very demure) gin & tonics and I finished Andrew and Gilly’s re-covering. It’s chartreuse velvet with multi-coloured velvet buttons. Hmmmm, stroke-able. Smoothe smoothe, stroke stroke. MEOOOOWWWWW.

In other news, our spin-off commercial enterprise toasted installing a gabillion buttoned benches and banquettes at Greenbank’s newest amenity, after the dog poo and Jim’s Bottle shop, the rather fabulous Greenbank Pub. Revived by the Zazu’s team and full of delicious pizzas, fancy beers, decent red wine (if our baptism on Thursday was anything to go by) and frankly totally unnecessarily shots of Sambucca (if our hangovers on Friday were anything to go by).  It’s my local. I will be the lady in the corner, drinking red and looking underneath the banquettes for stray staples. For more on The Greenbank- https://www.facebook.com/nick.pennock.33?fref=ts

Time to PANIC

I don’t want to rock your boat, but you’re TOTALLY RUNNING OUT OF TIME to get a certain special other half/ mother/ mother-in-law/ dad/ sibling/ spoilt pet/ boss/ your good self a hand-made, cruelty-free, GIFT.  There’s been a bit of a last-minute flurry- but I’ve still got some l o v e r l y cushions for your happy bottoms (not all of them are on the website). Come and try ’em out- I’ll be at the workshop, in town, quite a bit this week. I’ll also be harnessing the reindeer and doing a drop of deliveries later in the week if you’re bed-bound and don’t trust the Royal Mail.

Jingley-Boo

Happy Bottoms

As part of Tickety-Boo’s mission to make everyone more comfortable, we are having a quick clear-out, I mean, a seasonal sale. 20% off all cushions on checkout with the code: HAPPYBOTTOMS. We have also discounted some other items because, frankly, the workshop is becoming a hazard with all the furniture in it, in various states of undress. Make me an offer. We need the money- the kitten is eating us out of house and home and the boy is expecting LOTS of lego come Christmas.

Remember: we all deserve HAPPYBOTTOMS.

Merry Christmas from Kitty

Put A Bird On It

“How can I beautify this bog-standard nursing chair?” I asked myself.

“Put a bird on it!” came the cry.

So I did.

In the shop SOON. Now, fly away, my pretties, fly.

Oh, what a wonderful thing to be, A healthy grown up busy busy bee…

Laydeez & Gennelmen, Tickety-Boo is proud to present for your delight, delectation and bottom comfort:

One Sun & Sky yellow & blue wool mix Ercol Windsor Arm Chair

One Ercol Windsor Armchair in geometric Zoffany

IMG_0738

One BONKERS Cintique in raspberry with frankly alarming tribal detailing. I think I was having a funny turn when I put this one together. I was certainly feeling peculiar by the time I’d finished it. But that might just’ve been the fine paste wax.

IMG_0725

And for pudding, get your cocktail shaker out- there’s this little B E A U T Y…

IMG_0719

They’re all for sale.

I rather suspect the raspberry one will be for sale for quite some time.

“Oh, what a wonderful thing to be,
A healthy grown up busy busy bee;
Whiling away all the passing hours
Pinching all the pollen from the cauliflowers.
I’d like to be a busy little bee,
Being as busy as a bee can be.
Flying around the garden brightest ever seen,
Taking back the honey to the dear old queen.”

It seems as if the new workspace is conducive to beauty, if I don’t say so myself. See how a frankly disgusting brown ratty chair is transformed, ta-daa *waves wand*, into a nimble-ankled, Zoffany-covered, rinky-dinky-pinky poppet. Yeah, I KNOW!

I am not convinced that anything other than a terrifying gas bill will make me part with this. Check the shop next month when Scottish & Southern have delivered their winter hate-mail.

Hot Love Triangle

Straight out of the sweatshop- a new cushion. Actually more of an icebox than a sweatshop. The sooner I can train my boy to operate a sewing machine, the faster you’ll get your piped products.

I’ll be doing a cocktail chair in a variant of this in the New Year. *hops from foot to foot*

Grey-Brown Retro Armchair Piped to Perfection
Stripped and waxed, new webbing and new zipped seat pad. The prettiest buttoned scatter cushion I HAVE EVER MADE (expect more of them, yessiree). This is a really really really comfy chair. Unfortunately, our house is filling up with chairs and lego. Something’s gotta give. And it’s the chairs.

Birdy Birdy Num Num

Petite nursery chair festooned in birdhouse fabric by troismiettes on spoonflower (http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/5299), finished off with round-headed tacks. To be honest, I’d be happy if I never had to look at another round-headed tack again in my life, so this chair has to go.

Pretty in Pink

I’m going to pipe the outside of this and hand finish it. Now, to wrestle with the box cushion.
