Freelance Fridays

I love my job. I know, I’m a lucky gal. I ESPECIALLY love Fridays. As a freelancer I get, well, no holiday pay. No sick pay. No guaranteed income. No pension. None of that. But, on the plus side, on a sunny Friday, I can go ‘sod it’ and put away the chaises I’ve been working on all week (more of that later) and do my own thing. This Friday, I ‘refreshed my shop offering’. Sorry to be talking like some pr*ick out of The Apprentice, but all that means is, I tarted up some cushions and posted them. This is in anticipation of Chr*stmas Craft Fairs and pressie buying. You, my Dear Reader, can beat the rush.

I think I can safely GUARANTEE* these cushions have cloud-repelling properties and will keep you happy as the nights draw in.

Sanderson One Two Three

Client bought the MOST BEAUTIFUL fabric from Sanderson. I spent about a week wrestling with antediluvian Parker Knoll webbing tape, grommets, etc. There was blood. Really. I nailed my finger to the underside of one of them (don’t worry- the chair was FINE). The red came out SPIFFING but the green fought me all the way. But I WON. Just sayin’.

It seems as if the new workspace is conducive to beauty, if I don’t say so myself. See how a frankly disgusting brown ratty chair is transformed, ta-daa *waves wand*, into a nimble-ankled, Zoffany-covered, rinky-dinky-pinky poppet. Yeah, I KNOW!

I am not convinced that anything other than a terrifying gas bill will make me part with this. Check the shop next month when Scottish & Southern have delivered their winter hate-mail.

Dangerous Liaisons

Another re-cover job for the dental chair couple. This piece of repro furniture was very Dangerous Liasons so I made sure to thoroughly scotchguard it so any dropped profiteroles (or worse) came off nice and easy. The paisley they chose looked properly decadent. I got to try out my double-piping foot, play with a glue-gun, learnt a lot and now affix double piping to anything I can get my hands on. It looks pretty good on furniture. Not so good glued to fingers, plates, floorboards, small boys…

Pretty in Pink

I’m going to pipe the outside of this and hand finish it. Now, to wrestle with the box cushion.
